Ingredients

  • Rice
  • 1 egg
  • meat of your choice
  • 1 cup brown gravy

Directions

The variations to this popular dish are limitless.  The basic components are rice, meat of your choice (the original loco-moco was made with a hamburger patty), a fried egg (over-easy), all smothered with brown gravy.

The “meat” often used in Hawaii, in addition to the traditional hamburger patty, include portuguese sausage and spam, but you can give it a try with your favorite and use white gravy instead of brown, if you so choose.  Its your creation to customize to fit your tastes!
